Colorado State Patrol troopers respond to the scene of an rollover accident involving a semi on Jan. 15, 2014.
DEER TRAIL, Colo. — The driver of a semi was killed in a rollover accident on I-70 near Deer Trail Wednesday morning, prompting an investigation that closed the interstate in eastern Colorado for much of the morning.
The Colorado State Patrol confirmed the single-vehicle accident took place near mile marker 323, which is about five miles from Deer Trail, around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
Traffic on the interstate was down to one lane, with CSP troopers closing all eastbound lanes and only allowing one lane of traffic to flow westbound shortly after the accident.
Video from SkyFOX showed the semi on its side just off a bridge on the interstate, with much of its cargo load scattered along a frontage road.
