Anonymous donor gives Broncos tickets to girl recovering with leukemia
AURORA, Colo. — For 15-year old Amanda Gaines, a year of pain and suffering is turning around this weekend thanks to an anonymous donor.
Amanda is recovering from Leukemia and a bone marrow transplant. She’s also a life-long Broncos fan and this weekend, she and her mother will get a chance to go to the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots.
The tickets were donated to Brents Place — a facility where folks can recover from illness. Brent’s Place gave them to Amanda.
“My mom and I were super excited!” Amanda said. “We are both life-long Bronco fans and can’t believe someone didn’t want to go see the Broncos play a game like this one.”
The youngster’s room at Brent’s Place is very blue and orange, from holiday lights to nail polish, this kid is all Broncos all the time.
The donor didn’t want to get any credit for his good-will gesture. He said he just wanted to put the tickets to good use.
“I have to wear a mask, so I won’t get sick, but it will be painted orange and blue that’s for sure,” Amanda said.
