CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Castle Rock Police have a bit of a mystery on their hands.

They’re investigating the discovery of a woman’s body in a car sitting at a towing company lot for weeks.

Police got the call from Westside Towing at 1080 Atchison Way about 9:40 a.m. Thursday.

Employees thought a woman was sleeping in the backseat of a car. But it turns out she was dead.

The car had been sitting inside the lot for five weeks—since December 10.

It had been towed from the parking lot of the Castle Rock La Quinta Inn.

The car belonged to 53-year-old Lea Marie Lippincott of Colorado Springs.

And Friday, the Douglas County Coroner identified the body as Lippincott’s.

Police say they’re talking with employees of the tow company to find out if the body had been there the whole time and they just didn’t see it.

The coroner wouldn’t say if the body is badly decomposed. But she did say she’ll have the cause of Lippincott’s death in four to six weeks.

We haven’t been able to find out much about who Lippincott was. She had no social media presence and nobody answered the two phone numbers registered in her name.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is also helping Castle Rock Police with the investigation.
