FBI to hold news conference on ‘violent’ Wells Fargo bank robbery

WESTMINSTER — The FBI will hold a news conference to talk about a robbery at a Wells Fargo bank on Federal Boulevard that it called “violent.”

The robbery happened Jan. 21 at the Westminster bank at W. 74th Avenue and Federal.

According to the FBI, two men in their 20s entered the bank just after 4 p.m. Both had handguns and left with a large sum of money.

Surveillance video of the robbery showed one of the men wearing a white jacket and carrying a black garbage bag.

The duo left the bank in a black Jeep Cherokee. Police said the Jeep was stolen in the north metro area several days before the robbery.

The FBI said they will talk about the case Friday at 9:30 a.m. and “new detailed information will be discussed involving the violent bank robbery.”

The Westminster Police Chief will attend the news conference.

Wells Fargo is offering a reward of as much as $25,000 for information that leads authorities to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the robbers.
