FORT LUPTON, Colo. — A man attempted to kidnap a 14-year-old female Wednesday in a parking lot outside a high school, according to the Fort Lupton Police Department.

At approximately 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect approached the juvenile in the south parking lot of Fort Lupton High School at 530 Reynolds St., said police. The suspect then pushed her against a fence and demanded she “be quiet.”

Police said the girl threw punches at the man until she hit his face, allowing her to escape and seek out help. The man fled immediately in his car, leaving the scene in an unknown direction.

Investigators described the suspect as tall and thin, about 6-foot and 180 pounds. He wore a dark-colored beanie hat, a dark-colored coat and dark-colored jeans.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a light-colored station wagon or SUV with a hatchback, tinted windows and possibly a lowered suspension.

Police said they don’t believe the suspect poses an imminent threat to the community, but asked for the public’s help in identifying the man.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort Lupton Police Department at 303-857-4011.
