Police warn about predator after 11-year-old escapes kidnap attempt
AURORA, Colo. — Parents and police are on alert in an Aurora neighborhood after an 11-year-old girl told officers a man tried to kidnap her.
Police say the girl managed to fight off the stranger after he first asked if she wanted a ride.
“He grabbed the little girl and she fought back,” says Aurora Police Sgt. Chris Amsler. “She kicked him in the shin and she was able to escape. She pulled away from her backpack and ran to safety.”
This happened earlier this week near E. Evans Avenue and S. Telluride Street, not too far from Mrachek Middle School.
She says she was walking home from school at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when it happened.
“We have a predator out there. I mean if someone is so brazen to do this at 4:30 in the afternoon around the school where there’s a lot of traffic, who knows what he’s going to do next?” Sgt. Amsler says.
