DENVER — A 21-year-old Denver man has been charged with first-degree murder in the case of a triple shooting last summer.

According to the Denver District Attorney’s Office Tayvon Martin faces a first-degree murder charge and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Martin is accused of confronting and shooting three people in the 1200 block of Albion Street on June 22, said DA spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Gabriel Scott, later died. A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were also shot and survived, Kimbrough said.

Police were able to identify Martin as a suspect shortly after the shooting, however he fled the state and police were not able to arrest him.

Kimbrough said detectives later learned Martin had returned to Denver and was arrested Feb. 3.

He is being held in the Denver Detention Center without bond.

His next court appearance is Feb. 12.
