DA office charges man for Denver bike thefts

DENVER — A man has been formally charged for a string of bike thefts that occurred in Denver during December 2013 and January 2014, the Denver District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

District Attorney Mitch Morrissey charged Drake Durbin, 19, with 16 counts of second-degree burglary, according to a statement from the office.

The charges connected Durbin with a series of bike thefts that occurred between Dec. 1 and Jan. 31 in areas throughout downtown Denver.

A second suspect is still at large, said the DA’s office.

Durbin was placed in the Denver Detention Center, where he remained as of Wednesday afternoon, said the DA. His bond was set for $3,500.

His second advisement was set for Friday at 9:30 a.m. in a Denver County courtroom.
