TV comedian Sid Caesar died at his Beverly Hills home on Feb. 12, 2012, according to his biographer and friend Eddy Friedfeld.

LOS ANGELES — Sid Caesar, a trailblazer in live television sketch comedy, passed away Wednesday at the age of 91.

Caesar died at his Beverly Hills home after an illness, his biographer and friend Eddy Friedfeld told The Los Angeles Times.

The comedian received two Emmy Awards for his on-screen performances during the 1950s, including his own television show, Your Show of Shows.

He was hailed by critics and fans alike for his witty physical and verbal comedy.
