PUEBLO, Colo. — A woman was arrested Friday after police say she left a 2-week-old baby on some train tracks.
Police said the woman was “incoherent.”
When officers arrived at the scene, a group of citizens had the woman, 31-year-old Jessica Sloan, in custody. The witnesses said they stopped her when she was running from the tracks.
“Other witnesses informed officers that there were trains stopped in both directions when they observed a female drop her baby on the tracks prior to running away,” a statement from the Pueblo Police Department said. “A pair of city workers in the area immediately retrieved the baby from the tracks. The two week old infant girl appeared to be okay, but was transported to a local hospital for a more thorough examination.”
Police took Sloan into custody for questioning and evaluation.
