Investigation into massive I-25 pileup continues, no charges yet

DENVER — Two days after 104 vehicles crashed into each other on a short stretch of northbound I-25, the investigation that is certain to last for quite some time continues.

The coroner has not released the name of the person who died Saturday morning.

Drivers reported whiteout conditions between University Boulevard and Broadway when the pileup happened around 11 a.m.

Many who made it out safely talk about how it’s amazing more people weren’t killed or seriously hurt. 30 people were taken to hospitals.

“I remember getting hit, getting turned sideways,” says Don Maracut. “I must have hit something on the side because I kinda’ bounced back the other way.”

Northbound I-25 was closed for five hours. Police haven’t charged anyone yet.
