DENVER — An Arvada man has been arrested and charged with operating a sex trafficking ring in the Denver metro area, announced the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office Wednesday.
According to the DA’s Office, Joe Avalos, 35, has been charged for operating a multi-jurisdictional prostitution ring out of his Arvada home at 11947 W. 58th Place.
Court documents stated that, between January and October 2013, Avalos committed pimping, pandering, kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing drugs to young women in exchange for having sex with strangers.
The DA said there are five victims named in the case against Avalos, including two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, and three young adult females, ages 18, 18 and 20.
The 16-year-old named victim lived with Avalos at his Arvada home, added the DA.
After a joint investigation between the Arvada Police Department, FBI’s Innocence Lost Track Force and the DA’s Office, Avalos has been charged with 17 counts in this case, including kidnapping, pandering of a child, pimping, sexual assault, distribution of a controlled substance to a minor, keeping a place of prostitution and attempting to pimp a child.
The DA’s Office said he is currently in custody at the Jefferson County Detention Center with four unrelated pending criminal cases.
He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
