ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A day after a fire ripped apart sections of an Adams County condo complex, investigators were no closer to identifying how the blaze began.

The fire, which damaged or destroyed at least 18 units, broke out at the Corona Village around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Fire investigators spent most of Wednesday tearing down the remaining structure that officials have determined is too unsafe to remain standing.

Several families returned to the complex to view the damage and attempted to retrieve any belongings.

“Right now were looking to see where we’re going to go and we’re basically going to start over,” said Ifhel Accosta, a resident who lost everything in the blaze.

Four people went to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Firefighters say a number of pets died in the fire that spread through two adjacent buildings.
