DENVER — Despite the warning signs, drivers are hitting potholes at Speer Boulevard and Bryant Street — and paying the price.
Erik Zitek says he can’t believe Speer Boulevard would be in this kind of condition, but he’s got a couple of things that are pretty convincing: Two tires that lost the battle with a pothole.
“The pothole is gaping. I would call it the same as hitting curb straight on,” Zitek said.
The Valdez family stood crying on the side of the road. They have a baby in the hospital and were on their way to see her when they hit a pothole and ended up having to change two flat tires.
An example of just how much damage a break in the pavement can cause. You could easily take your eyes off the road for a second and miss it completely.
The Valdez family says they just bought new tires Monday and can’t afford new ones now.
From what we can tell, it looks like the pothole is a result of some type of road construction.
