GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Heather Jensen, a Palisade mother who was found guilty of two counts of child abuse resulting in death with negligence and false reporting regarding the deaths of her two sons, will be sentenced Friday.

The children, William, 2, and Tyler, 4, died from extreme heat exposure after they were left in an SUV.

According to an arrest affidavit, in November 2012, Jensen left the children strapped in their car seats and locked them in her Toyota 4Runner, which was left running, on the Grand Mesa for 90 minutes while she had sex with a man in a truck nearby.

Jensen was found guilty Jan. 31. She was found not guilty of criminally negligent homicide. Jensen’s lawyers are considering an appeal.

Sentencing by District Judge Valerie Robison will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
