JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Deputies received a 911 call Friday concerning a possible homicide at a south Jefferson County residence.

At approximately 9 p.m. Friday, deputies found a deceased female at 9383 W. Ontario Dr. after a neighbor called authorities to report a domestic disturbance at the home, said the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Saturday afternoon, deputies identified the victim at 34-year-old Michele Elaine Lucero.

Deputies believed 33-year-old Michael Allen Sommerfield, Lucero’s common-law husband, to be the suspect in the murder case.

Sommerfield lived with Lucero at the home in which her body was discovered.

He had left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement, but called later to turn himself in, said deputies.

Authorities arrested Sommerfield and booked him into the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

He is currently being held there without bond, added deputies, and his first court appearance is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m.

According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Sommerfield had a previous arrest for child abuse and was given a one-year deferred sentence, which has been dismissed.
