DENVER — The unemployment rate in Colorado remained at 6.1 percent in February, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment reported Friday.

Nonfarm payroll jobs went up by 6,200 in the month, including 5,400 in the private sector.

There were 18,400 people added to the labor force in the month and 16,900 said they were employed.

The biggest gains came in professional and business services, and leisure and hospitality, the report said. The biggest decline was in education and health services.

The 6.1 statewide rate is down from 7.1 percent in February 2013.
