AURORA – Two people were hurt Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash near South Buckley Road and South Nucla Way.

The rollover accident, which happened about 12:02 p.m., closed South Buckley in both directions, the Denver Police Department reported.

The occupants of the car were a male and a female, the Aurora Police Department said Sunday evening. The two people were arguing when the male passenger suddenly pulled the handbrake, causing the car to skid out of control and flip after striking the median, APD said.

Neither person was wearing a seatbelt and the female driver was ejected from the vehicle, the Aurora Fire Department said. Both parties were seriously injured but were expected to live.

The incident was still under investigation. The male will likely face assault and other charges, and the woman may be cited for DUI, APD said.
