DENVER — Over the weekend, Denver police officers responded to reports of a male suspect waiving knives around in a parking lot.

Denver Police District 4 officers were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Federal Boulevard, where witnesses pointed out Michael Dominguez, 42, as the man allegedly waiving around knives, the Denver Police Department said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

After contacting Dominguez and patting him down for weapons, officers said they found a large knife concealed inside his pants as well as three other knives in his pockets.

Dominguez, who appeared to be under the influence, told police that he had been punched and planned to stab the person who punched him.

The officers arrested him for violation of a protection order and possession of an illegal weapon.

Later, law enforcement discovered that Dominguez is a six-time convicted felon. They then amended his charges, and Dominguez now faces a felony of possession of a weapon by a previous offender charge.
