Police search for suspect in Capitol One credit card fraud

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Sixteen Capital One consumers reported recent fraudulent charges on their credit card accounts, and 15 of the card holders reside in Colorado.

According to Capital One, these credit cards were likely compromised during the Target security breach in 2013.

The Lakewood Police Department reported that there was $14,779.05 of unsuccessful transactions against the compromised accounts and $8,677.75 of successful ones. These charges were made in the Denver Metro area between Feb. 8 and March 14.

Detectives said the same suspect have been caught on surveillance cameras in different stores, and appears to have encoded the cards in the name of Steve Locke or Steve S. Locke.
