DENVER — Marijuana fans can breathe (or cough, as the case may be) a giant sigh of relief: Denver’s 4/20 festival has been saved.

After much discussion, Denver Parks and Recreation on Thursday greenlit this year’s 4/20 rally, which has grown into a two-day festival in Civic Center Park. This means the city and festival planners have officially hashed out their differences over whether sanctioning the public consumption of marijuana was appropriate, the Denver Post reported.

It appears police will once again leave public pot-smokers alone unless they are creating a public safety hazard, according to the Post. This, in spite of the fact that public smoking is explicitly illegal under the law.

The 4/20 rally is slated to run April 19-20.
