GOLDEN, Colo. — Golden firefighters came to the aid of a fallen hiker in Clear Creek Canyon Saturday afternoon.

Reports of a fallen hiker in Clear Creek Canyon between tunnels one and two at mile-marker 265 came in at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, Golden Fire Department spokesperson Karlyn Tilley told Channel 2 News.

Because it would take rescuers so long to hike him out and unfavorable weather was approaching, Tilley said crews decided to evacuate the 18-year-old hiker via air.

The hiker was transported by a helicopter to St. Anthony’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Tilley added.
