Thornton PD: Vehicular homicide suspect in police custody
THORNTON, Colo. — Police have identified the suspect in a vehicular homicide case that killed one late Thursday evening and taken him into custody.
The auto-pedestrian crash occurred at about 10 p.m. Thursday at E. 97th Avenue and Race Street, according to the Thornton Police Department.
Witnesses had told police they saw the victim laying in the street before being hit by a northbound car.
Police located the driver of that vehicle and interviewed the driver. The driver was then released with no charges.
Further investigation revealed that the victim, whose name has not yet been released, was first struck by a 1995 Chevrolet cargo van, said police.
Police identified the driver of the van as 26-year-0ld Dannel Bond Kimble.
On Saturday, police obtained information that Kimble may be in the area of the 3500 block of E. 107th Avenue in Thornton.
Officers located the Chevy van in that area and observed Kimble, after which they contacted Kimble and took him into police custody for investigation of vehicular homicide at about 10:38 a.m.
