THORNTON, Colo. — Two suspects were charged with manslaughter Wednesday in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Thornton, announced that 17th Judicial District Attorney.
DA Dave Young said Dannel Bond Kimble, 26, was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, reckless vehicular homicide and manslaughter in the hit-and-run death of 29-year-old Joshua Stewart that occurred on April 19. Cynthia Marie Vigil, 52, was also charged with manslaughter in the case.
According to the arrest affidavit, Stewart was the passenger in a car driven by Kimble. The two began arguing, causing Stewart to exit the vehicle. He was holding on to the side of the van when Kimble pressed the accelerator. At that time, Vigil, who was also a passenger in the car, pried Stewart’s fingers loose from the car. He then lost his grip and was run over by the van.
Stewart was run over by a second vehicle and later found lying in the street in the 9600 block of Race Street.
Both Kimble and Vigil were advised of their charges Wednesday in an Adams County court, said Young.
Kimble is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 14 at 10 a.m.
