NORTHGLENN, Colo. — Firefighters were dispatched to an apartment complex late Monday night on reports of a fire in one of the units.
At approximately 11:03 p.m. Monday, a 911 call came into the Adams County Communications Center from an individual reporting a fire at an apartment complex located at 10648 Huron St. in Northglenn, according to the North Metro Fire Rescue District.
A fire truck, medic unit and battalion chief, along with officers from the Northglenn Police Department, arrived on scene by about 11:06 p.m.
Fire officials said that four additional fire trucks and another medic unit responded to the scene shortly after initial crews arrived.
Firefighters located the blaze in a bedroom of a third-floor apartment of the Heights on Huron complex.
Crews worked quickly to extinguish flames that were coming from a burning mattress. The fire was contained to the bedroom.
A mother and her teenaged son were in the apartment at the time of the fire, but were able to evacuate with no injuries, said fire officials.
After ruling the incident as accidental and stressing that the fire did not involve hash oil, fire officials said the cause is still under investigation.
