Denver Police ID suspect in Colorado Boulevard standoff

DENVER — The suspect accused of barricading himself inside a building that forced the closure of South Colorado Boulevard on Sunday has been identified by Denver Police.

Thomas David Valdez, 31, is being held on charges of felony menacing, criminal mischief and refusal to leave the premises involving a weapon.

He is being held on $50,000 bond after making a court appearance Monday morning. His next court date has not been set.

On Sunday, police received a report of a robbery at music store Second Spin and a report of a barricade situation in the building at South Colorado Boulevard and East Florida Avenue.

Valdez was brought out of the building at approximately 8:20 p.m.
