Latest storm allows A-Basin to extend season until at least June 8
KEYSTONE, Colo. — Summer skiing? Not quite yet, but after Arapahoe Basin Ski Area received an additional 2 feet of snow from the recent storm, it announced Tuesday it will extend its season for an extra weekend on June 6-8.
A-Basin previously announced it would stay open every day through June 1, but the latest powerful snowstorm enabled it to extend an extra weekend.
“If conditions remain favorable, and people still continue to be excited about skiing and riding this spring, our hope is to take this season even further,” A-Basin Chief Operating Officer Alan Henceroth said.
If the season is extended beyond June 8, it will only be on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
A-Basin opened Oct. 13 and has received 419 inches of snow after receiving 307 inches for the 2012-13 ski season.
The latest A-Basin has stayed open was Aug. 10, 1995. It also was open for skiing on July 4 in 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2011. Last season, it closed on June 9.
