California-firm recalls crushed chili powder due to health risk

U.S. Trading Company of Hayward, California issued a voluntary recall of its crushed chili powder Tuesday due to a possible Salmonella contamination.

The recalled product,  Dragonfly Brand Crushed Chili Powder 6.3-ounce plastic containers with lot code 359XP, was distributed to retail stores and food wholesale nationwide, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA said the recall was a result of routine sampling by the department.

No illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who purchased the product are encouraged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
