Toll prices increase for I-25 Express Lanes effective Thursday

hovDENVER — It’s getting more expensive to drive in the Interstate 25 Express Lanes.

Starting Thursday, tolls in the lanes increased from 10 cents to 70 cents depending on the time of day traveled and whether drivers use a transponder or license plate tolling.

The increases in the mornings include from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. (up 10 cents or 30 cents); 6 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. (up 45 cents or 50 cents); 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. (up 45 cents or 55 cents); and 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. (up 30 cents or 50 cents).

The increases in the afternoons include from noon to 3 p.m. (up 10 cents or 30 cents); 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (up 40 cents); 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (up 55 cents or 70 cents); 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. (up 45 cents or 55 cents); 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (up 40 cents); and 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. (up 10 cents or 30 cents).

The increase was approved by the High Performance Transportation Enterprise Board.

“To maintain the reliability of the travel speeds, the board adjusted the tolling based on the congestion periods throughout the day,” the Colorado Department of Transportation said. “This dynamic pricing model supports the lanes’ continued effectiveness for transit and other users.”

Drivers with one passenger can still use the lanes for free.
