Two 18-year-olds arrested for profane vandalism at Highlands Ranch park

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Two 18-year-old men have been arrested in connection with the graffiti that was spray-painted in Foothills Park in Highlands Ranch this week, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Jordan Rockwell and Andrew Whattam were charged with criminal mischief. Bond was set at $5,000 for Rockwell, who has not posted it. He’s due in court May 27. Whattam posted $6,000 bail Wednesday and he’s next due in court June 20.

The sheriff’s office said several locations in the park were spray-painted — including sidewalks, a playground and signs — with profanity and discriminatory language that was noticed Monday. The damage was about $5,000.

Several leads unfolded during the investigation that led to the arrests late Tuesday. The sheriff’s office said the major factor was the working relationship among the Douglas County School District, the school resource officer at ThunderRidge High School and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office patrol division.
