THORNTON, Colo. — Three people suspected of stealing a Chihuahua puppy from a pet store have turned themselves in to authorities, the Thornton Police Department said Thursday.
Destry Patterson, 35, of Commerce City, Stacy Davalos, 24, of Northglenn and Phillip Marcum, 27, of Commerce City were issued a state misdemeanor summons for theft. Marcum was also charged with false reporting to authorities.
The puppy was taken Sunday afternoon from a Pet Ranch store (3823 E. 120th Ave.). Witnesses said they watched the suspects take the puppy from its pen and conceal it under a baby stroller as they left.
With surveillance video of the suspects having been released to the media, police say one of the suspect’s brothers returned the stolen puppy to the Pet Ranch on Tuesday night, saying he found the puppy in the area of the store on Sunday.
On Wednesday night, all three suspects turned themselves in to the Thornton Police Department where they were arrested.
