80th and Sheridan closed due to fatal traffic accident

ARVADA, Colo. — One person was killed and two were hurt early Friday in a traffic accident at the intersection of 80th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, Arvada city officials said.

A white Dodge Challenger and a black GMC Jimmy collided about 4 a.m., officials said. The driver of the Jimmy was killed, while the backseat passenger was ejected, suffering serious injuries. A third occupant of the Jimmy was not seriously hurt.

The male driver of the Challenger, the car’s only occupant, suffered serious injuries.

SkyFox spotted a Dodge Challenger with heavy front-end damage at the scene about 6 a.m.

The intersection was closed for several hours. Sheridan reopened about 7:30 a.m., and 80th reopened about 10 a.m.
