Denver Police continue search in attempted abduction

DENVER — Denver Police continue to search for a man after he allegedly abducted a woman on Sunday then let her go.

Police say someone forced a woman into an SUV near South Lowell Boulevard and Morrison Road. Investigators say the attempted kidnapper eventually let the woman go near Federal Boulevard and Alameda Avenue.

Hugo Zuniga’s family lives nearby. He says he’ll keep a close eye on his mother and little sister, and teach them how to stay safe.

“It being a cruel world and then her being a woman, I’m just always trying to get her to be on her feet and just be cautious,” Zuniga said. “My mom has always taught us you know keep an eye out, be on the lookout and make sure that you’re always watching your back.”

Diane Hernandez has lived in the neighborhood on and off since she was a kid. She says it’s up to neighbors to watch out for each other.

“I think a lot of these people stay very quiet,” she said. “They don’t hardly ever come out.”

The suspect’s car is only described as a green SUV and was last seen at Lowell and West Ellsworth Avenue. If anyone has information on the case, they are asked to call police.
