16-year-old hit-and-run suspect turns himself in to Westminster Police

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Lucio Roberto Vasquez-Jimenez, 16, turned himself in to the Westminster Police Department on Monday for the hit-and-run accident that left motorcycle rider David Nazeri in critical condition.

Nazeri was struck from behind while riding his motorcycle on U.S. 36 on May 31.

Vasquez-Jimenez was transported to the Mount View Detention Facility and is charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident, giving information/aid after an accident with serious bodily injured; careless driving resulting in injury; and violation restrictions on a temporary learners permit.

Nazeri’s family has set up a fund to help with medical expenses. Donations can be made at any First Bank location under the David Nazeri Benefit Fund. It can also be done through the Facebook page that has been set up.
