Last of missing police dogs found in Douglas County

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — The third and final police/military dog that was stolen 11 days ago from a private kennel has been found, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

The dogs were reported missing from the Gunbil German Shepherds private kennel on the morning of May 31. Deputies said they believe the dogs were taken sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

One of the dogs was found by a homeowner in Palmer Lake on June 1. A second dog was found Thursday morning near the kennel tethered to a fence. The third dog was found Tuesday morning near the Palmer Divide.

Officials are continuing with the investigation and say no arrests have been made.

“We continue to thank the public for the leads that have stemmed from those tips,” the sheriff’s office sadi.
