DENVER — A man accused in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred last year was sentenced to four years in prison in a Denver courtroom Friday.

Nathan Beechley, 31, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the death of 35-year-old Johnathan Lewis, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

On April 9, 2013, Beechley struck Lewis while he was walking along the crosswalk at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, the DA’s Office said. He then fled the scene.

Beechley has been out on bond, the DA’s Office added.

The court granted a stay of execution on the sentence until Monday.
