UPDATE: Interstate 25 reopens near Speer after pedestrian struck

DENVER — Northbound Interstate 25 was closed  Thursday after a man was hit by a car while attempting to cross the freeway.

The incident happened about 12:30 p.m., in the northbound lanes near Speer Boulevard, according to the Denver Police Department. It reopened about 2:30 p.m.

The victim was hospitalized with substantial injuries, according to a DPD tweet. The driver apparently stayed at the scene.

All northbound lanes of I-25 were closed at 23rd Avenue. Alternate routes were advised.
