Two charged with kidnapping, sexual assault of woman taken from Denver bus stop

DENVER — Two men were arrested and charged last week for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman who was waiting for a bus in downtown Denver, then was dropped off in Glenwood Canyon hours later, the Glenwood Springs Post Independent reported.

The woman was at a bus stop at Colfax Avenue and Broadway about 8 p.m. June 11 when the men forced her into a red Honda Civic, police say. She told police one of the men allegedly raped her twice in the back seat as the other drove in the metro area.

She fell asleep and does not know when she was dropped off at a rest area in Glenwood Canyon, but she contacted the Colorado State Patrol about 11 a.m. June 12. A trooper found the suspects about an hour later.

Robert Pacheco, 34, faces is charged with sexual assault, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree criminal trespass and theft. Michael Clapper, 24, of Denver, is charged with kidnapping, trespass and theft.

The men were transferred to Denver on Tuesday after being held in the Garfield County Jail.
