ARVADA, Colo. — One boat capsized on the Arvada Reservoir Saturday afternoon, with one person swimming to shore and rescue efforts required to save a second, as well as the boat.

Arvada Police confirmed that just after 1:30 p.m., they received a report that a boat had capsized. When they arrived, they found one person had swam to shore. A rescue boat was then deployed to rescue the second person, who was still aboard the boat.

When the second passenger was safe, the capsized boat was retrieved. Neither passenger was hurt.

“It is believed that sudden strong gusts of wind were to blame for the boat capsizing,” Arvada Police wrote on their Facebook page.

Police also made a note that earlier reports that two boats had capsized on the reservoir were inaccurate.
