GRANBY, Colo. — A summer camp in Granby has temporarily shut down due to an outbreak of an intestinal virus, a representative said Monday.
Leaders at YMCA Camp Chief Ouray, an overnight camp for kids ages 7-17, noticed a flu-like illness going around last week.
Twenty-seven out of 220 campers and 15 out of 90 staffers in the last session exhibited the illness, a camp spokesperson said.
After talking to state health officials, the decision was made to cancel the current session, which was slated to start Sunday.
Despite early concerns that the sickness could be norovirus, tests have so far come back negative. No one was hospitalized, officials said.
The camp is working on deep cleaning of all facilities and could reopen as soon as June 29.
