Police locate man wanted for questioning in Lakewood motel shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man wanted for questioning regarding a shooting at a Lakewood motel was found in Colorado Springs and taken into custody Monday.

The Lakewood Police Department submitted a public alert Monday afternoon, stating that officers were looking for Scott Michael Lynn, 32, regarding a homicide investigation at the Crosslands Economy Suites.

Police said they wanted to question Lynn about the incident.

He was later located in Colorado Springs and detained by police.

On June 14, at about 7 p.m., Lakewood Police received reports of a shooting at the Crosslands Economy Suites at 715 Kipling St.

Officers arrived on scene to discover the body of 34-year-old Randy Wayne Bender in room 314. Bender, who sustained gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Lynn also has a warrant for his arrest out of Elbert County on weapons-related charges, police said.
