COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A Texas motorcycle racer was killed Sunday morning in a crash moments after he crossed the finish line during an event on Pikes Peak.
Bobby Goodin, 54, lost control while trying to stop his bike in a gravel parking lot at the The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported.
The wreck sent his 2014 Triumph Daytona 675R into the air, with Goodin landing on the rocks.
He was laying face down, unconscious and motionless when EMTs arrivedThe El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Goodin was airlifted to Penrose Hospital with serious injuries.
Goodin was racing for the second time at the annual event after placing third as a rookie in the 1250 pro class, according to the Gazette.
