OPHIR, Colo. — Three adults were killed and another injured after a vehicle rolled several times down an embankment off of Highway 145 near Ophir early Saturday.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Highway 145 southbound near mile marker 64, Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Heather Cobler said.
A 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling southbound on the roadway when it veered off to the right side and onto a steep downward embankment, Cobler said. As the car hit the embankment, it rolled downhill several times.
Authorities declared two adult males and one adult female dead on scene.
The male sitting in the front right passenger seat sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Telluride Medical Center.
Cobler said investigators suspect alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
She advised all motorists to use precaution when traveling this holiday weekend.
