New bullet-resistant doors could make classrooms safer

CHINO, Calif. — You’ve heard of bullet-resistant vests and glass. Now a California company is hoping its product could make the classroom safer.

It makes a door it says can help keep students and teachers safe during a school shooting.

Safer Schools for America is marketing what it calls the Door Shield, which is made of level-3-rated fiberglass.

The company gave a demonstration on Monday that can be seen above.

The Door Shield is available to schools for about $500 each.
