Following the death of his infant daughter, a mourning Ohio father posted a photograph to Reddit and asked someone to Photoshop the image to remove his daughter’s medical tubes.
Nathen Steffel wrote on Reddit that his daughter, Sophia, was born May 30 and lived for only six weeks.
She died from a hepatic hemangioma, a liver tumor.
“My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital,” Nathen Steffel posted on the Reddit picture section. “Since she was in the hospital her whole life we were never able to get a photo without all her tubes.”
The response the father received was touching.
People posted altered photographs and drawings as well as heartwarming messages.
One post said, “I couldn’t sleep without at least trying one.”
Another read, “Wow, I’m going to hug my newborn now.”
And others suggested charities to help the grieving family.
After two days, the post had more than 2,700 comments.
“This is really amazing,” Steffel posted in response to the out pour of support. “Everyone you made my day. All I wanted was a nice picture. What I received was a lot of love and support from a bunch of strangers.”
