Not dressed for success: Facebook selfie lands Illinois woman behind bars

WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. — Another selfie posted to Facebook, another person in trouble.

Last week, it was deadbeat parents posting pictures of all of the money they were making and not paying child support. This week, it’s 27-year-old Danielle Saxton of southern Illinois posted pictures on her Facebook page showing off a new dress.

Only the dress was swiped from a boutique.

“What she stole is a very distinct leopard dress,” said Kert Williams, co-owner of Mortie’s Boutique.

Hours after the sticky-fingered woman made off with the dress, boutique owners posted pictures of the dress to their Facebook page and people quickly put the two pictures together and Saxton was identified.

“We just had a description and a direction of travel, but when the social media aspect played into it, we were able to identify who it was. And by looking at the background of the photograph we were able to pinpoint where she was at,”  West Frankfort Police Chief Shawn Talluto said.

Talluto says Saxton was holding the clothes when the cops showed up. Two T-shirts, sunglasses and a necklace she had taken from the boutique were also found.

Saxton was arrested and it was then discovered she was wanted on another warrant in Jackson County.
