Nearly 50 animals rescued from home in Longmont
LONGMONT, Colo. — An 83-year-old in Longmont could face criminal charges for keeping nearly 50 animals in the small home.
Longmont police and animal control officers removed dozens of animals from the home. There were 44 cats and five dogs. The animals were taken to the Longmont Humane Society where they are recovering.
Neighbors say they’ve been dealing with this for more than a year. Many had complained about the stench coming from the house and other problems.
“There was 20 or 30 cats over there at times. You`d open the sliding door to let the dog out and they`d run in the house,” says neighbor Lyle Stratton.
The Boulder County District Attorney is considering animal cruelty charges against the homeowner.
