DENVER — A suspect in a 2012 sexual assault was arrested last week when he was stopped for jaywalking, Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey announced Tuesday.

Gregory Carter, 46, allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old woman in an alley near Gilpin and Williams streets in late July of 2012, the DA’s Office said. Carter was identified as a suspect by a DNA profile in 2013, but wasn’t located until last week, when he was stopped for jaywalking by a Denver police officer.

Carter was being held on $50,000 bond.  He is scheduled to appear in court on July 31 to answer two charges of sexual assault.
