GREELEY, Colo. — A former teacher’s assistant at a Christian school in Greeley was sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting two teens.
Michael Josef Willits, 26, was sentenced Wednesday. His exact sentence is indeterminate. It must be a minimum of six years and could be up to life in prison, said Weld County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Pamela Johnson.
Willits pleaded guilty to the felony charge as part of a plea agreement.
He was arrested in 2013. Prosecutors said two teenage girls, 14 and 15, were assaulted by him. Willits met the teens at a local private school.
“One of the assaults occurred when he offered to pray with a young girl following a family tragedy,” said Johnson said in a release, “and the other occurred during private guitar lessons at the second girl’s home.”
