DENVER — Colorado Rockies all-star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will miss the rest of the season.
He has a torn labrum in his left hip and will have surgery on Friday in Vail. That’s according to a report in the Denver Post.
Rockies trainer Keith Dugger says recovery time from this surgery will be about five months.
Tulowitzki has been on the disabled list since July 19.
The star player has been in the majors since ’06 and has only played 150 games or more in a season twice. He played in 155 games in ’07 and 151 games in ’09.
Colorado lost in San Diego 5-3 Wednesday. The team is 46-74 which is the worst record in Major League Baseball. The Rockies return to Denver Thursday to begin a 4-game series against the Cincinnati Reds at Coors Field.
